First Half of 2010 Thoughts by The Yusuke

Hello everyone,
I hope you guys are all doing well. It’s been a pretty slow month for me so I thought it would be a good time to reflect on this first half of the year.

Zenshuji Obon Carnival
I had a great time at this year’s Zenshuji Obon carnival over the weekend. I hope everyone there had a good time as well and ate some good food.

Yusuke’s Vacation Part Two
I thought I change up the format for the second half of the trip since there weren’t too many eventful things happening everyday. The last few days in Japan we met up with old friends and did a little shopping and sight seeing around the usual places like Shibuya and Harajuku. The areas still are the same as before, crowded. I can’t really imagine living in a place where everyday you would be bunched up with people you don’t even know. When I was younger I always wanted to be in Tokyo since that was the popular place to be but now I like being in areas outside of the city. I think the area is becoming too “Americanized” or just too many people. I really liked being in Kanazawa, less people and didn’t seemed like a stressed out city.

Yusuke’s Vacation part 1
Day 1.
Arrived in Japan around 5:00pm. The flight wasn’t bad for once I felt like there was enough leg room for me to sit. Almost saw a fight break out at the immigration line. Not sure what happened but some guy was bumping some other dude and challenging him to a fight. The immigration officers got in between the guy and nothing more came from that.
After we got out we got our rail passes and headed for Tokyo. We met up with our friend and went to go eat some Korean BBQ. I have to admit that was one of best cuts of meat i have ever ate at a korean BBQ anywhere. Even though they don’t have quantity they really do have quality in Japan. You can see the marbling of the fats around the meat. Even the draft beer in Japan is different. The first night was pretty good with nice food and good beer.

Hello Everyone,
I hope everyone is doing well. Its been a pretty slow month since the last blog I wrote. I think we had our 3rd Ninja Ballz show at 2nd St Jazz, which was always fun. We debut our new song Midway that night. I think we got a pretty good feedback from everyone regarding that song. I personally like the song as well. It’s kind of funny how this song feels “light” and our other new song, Just One Night is really “heavy.” I guess it’s good to have coming from opposite emotional spectrums.

Hey Ninjas what is going on? I hope everyone is doing well. I just wanted to share with you guys what I’ve been up to since the last time I wrote to you guys. In actuality I don’t think I really haven’t done anything interesting since the last time LOL.
My life lately has been pretty uneventful, aside from playing in Random Ninjas. I guess one thing I did lately that was new to me was going to Jury Duty. At first when I got called in I thought this was gonna suck. But, I actually enjoyed my time serving for the city. I guess I was lucky that I had a pretty interesting case. Plus I got to walk a few blocks down to J-town for my lunches. And I still got paid from work so in a way it felt like a two week vacation.
I’m not really the type of person that likes to watch dramas on tv. Its really hard for me to follow a long series like Lost or Heroes. But there is one series that has got me hooked from the beginning. And that show is Dexter. I just finished watching the second season and I have to say this show is pretty awesome. I just think its fun to watch a serial killer who has some what of a conscience when it comes to killing people. I’ve been told the other seasons are way better and crazier so I can’t wait to start watching those.

Hello everyone,
First wanted to wish everyone a Happy New Year and hope everyone is doing well. The year hasn’t started out so great but hopefully the universe will balance itself out throughout the rest of the year.
I haven’t really done much over the break, just relaxed and caught up with some friends I haven’t seen for a while. I got to see a couple of movies during the break which I never do for one reason or another. Avatar was something I had to see in the theaters just so that I can say “I watched it in the theaters.” I think I’m the only one who hasn’t seen James Cameron’s movie before this and I don’t plan on watching it anytime soon. The other movie was Sherlock Holmes which I actually enjoyed. I thought it would be kind of a cheesy remake but it turned out to be pretty good.
I recently came back from a short trip to Vegas. I went there to help out a couple of friends of mine re-skin one of the taiko drums used on the show “Mystere” at Treasure Island. It was during their break so I didn’t get to see any of the perfomers but I saw the props they used for the show. If any of you saw the show and remember the trampoline they used, that thing really looks like fun to try. We also got to watch “O” at the Bellagio, the only thing I can say is the stage is awesome. The water is the main attraction for that show. But between the two I still like “Mystere” more than “O” better acts and better music in my opinion.
Looks like rain for the rest of the week so stay dry everyone and hope to see some of you on Saturday in Pasadena.

The Yusuke Blog # 3

Hello everyone this is Yusuke once again. I just wanted to have a small recap of our show last week. Last Friday was the first time RN has played at the Glasshouse and I was pretty surprised to see how big the place was. The floor was big enough to have a skating rink there and the stage had a lot of space. It’s funny, most of our shows the stage barely fits all five of us but the stage at the Glasshouse could fit us and probably another 5. I don’t think it’s something to get used to since our next show will be at 2nd St Jazz January 30th. We’re going from a stage that really big to a stage that can barely fit 3 of us on there.
After the show a couple of our SST members asked me to reflect on 2009. I really couldn’t answer because 1. I was really tired and just couldn’t think or 2. Im getting old and just can’t remember anything anymore or 3. A combination of both. Anyways I had a chance to reflect and I think 2009 had a lot of great things happening for us. A lot of the success we had was because of all the fans and friends like our Jan Sport Contest which we couldn’t do without all you guys. This year was the first time we ever did a acoustic show which was surprisingly very fun to do even though my hand was hurting for a week after the show. I think 2009 was a very positive and productive year for us, not sure what 2010 will bring to RN but I hope all you will be along for the ride. I hope every one has a safe holiday and New Year.
See you guys in January.

My Blog – The Yusuke

Well this week we all took a break from practicing. The Halloween show we had was a lot of fun. I’m the first to say that I don’t like dressing up for Halloween, but I must say the costume we wore was pretty awesome. If you don’t know what I’m talking about go check our website and see the pictures. Any who I’m actually writing this blog from my new macbook. I kind of got tired of my pc (actually its pretty much on its last leg now) so I decided to make my life a little easier. So far I’m not disappointed in this thing, but with anything I use, something bad will happen to it.
Like I said before, we have a break this week and next week so what am I going to do? Probably nothing, I kind of enjoy staying at home on the weekends and just watching some good old tv. Next week Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 is coming out so I’ll be on that game for a while. Hopefully I won’t get too addicted to the game.
For those that are interested I’ll be playing with my taiko group on November 15 12:30pm at the Opening Ceremony for the Metro Goldline in Little Tokyo. So if anyone is interested come check us out I think its free.
Finally saw Transformers 2 on DVD last week. I never did get to the movie theater to watch that movie. I wish I did my little 19 inch tv screen doesn’t do the movie any justice. Maybe because I’m a fan of the franchise but I didn’t think the movie was all that bad as people told me. Optimus kicked ass and there was still a lot of action in the movie.
Well thats about it for my blog this time. I really didn’t have anything interesting to write about but thats how most blogs are anyways =) but yeah my cat is walking all over my desk so I better stop now. My one of 3 cats is trying to get to different areas in my room.
