Music Video Ramblings part 1

August 11, 2010 · Posted in random blog · Comment

Hey Everybody!

The land of Random is buzzing with busy-ness. Between shows, writing new music, band practices, realities of living, and all that good stuff, we finally shot an official music video for “Tomorrow”. This song is from our first EP that we released last year. Buy it! (you know you want to heh) It’s on Amazon or iTunes.

This music video project is a big band effort, and I’m just the small guy who makes sure it moves forward. I’m grateful to have band mates who give great support.

Anyway, I will talk about the project within my perspective, and I’ll break it down by month. Nothing too specific, but it will give ya’ll an idea.

Hey everyone!

So I took a small break from RN stuff, day job, and all that jazz last week. A mini stay-cation if you will.

So what does Full Metal Ninja do during a stay-cation?

Austin rocks!

March 23, 2010 · Posted in News · Comment

Hey everyone!

Last weekend was a blast!  Random Ninjas rocked out in Austin-Texas playing 5 shows in 3 days.  The Friday show in particular was crazy ’cause we played at 5pm, 7pm, then at 9pm.

I could go on and on about how fun each show was, but I would rather focus on what went on behind the scenes.

Full Metal Fun Introspective

Hey everyone!

Full Metal Ninja here.  Wow! Las Vegas was a blast!  Met some cool new people, ate at great places, and I actually won $124 from the slot machines!  Those winnings paid for my buffet! lol

The trip took a lot of work for the band, but it was definitely fun.

On a random note, lately I’ve been getting a lot of questions about having fun or what fun entails.  Fun is definitely subjective, but for me, fun is rocking out.

But just like any type of fun, it does require work.   While some fun requires little effort, others require more.

To have fun in a band, the band and it’s business have to work first.

For the most part, it takes blood, sweat and tears, and even losing some of your peers to make it work.

So in this quest for awesome fun, my band mates and I became more than just musicians.

As for me, I became all of the following below: (Outside of playing guitar and producing)

Things I do (sometimes)

January 13, 2010 · Posted in random blog · Comment

Sometimes I sleep on stage randomly. Good thing no one trips on me.

Sometimes I do back flips.  Good thing I only do it in my head.

Sometimes I become Force Sensitive. Good thing I often only use it for good.

Sometimes I title original RN songs by numbers.  Good thing I don’t normally title the songs.

Sometimes I get excited about rocking out new songs.  Good thing we have a new song “Just One Night” to rock out at the Ninja Ballz 2 show.

Sometimes I get consumed by the energy that resides in me.  Good thing I have my weapons of mass distortion to diffuse the energy to the masses before it destroys me.

Sometimes I like to end things abruptly.  Good thing.

Video Games make Full Metal Ninja, a happy ninja

This past week, I’ve been putting up show posters and what not.   Just doing my thing.  Promote as much as I can.

After a long day at work, traveling around to promote the band, and then coming home and playing video games makes this ninja, a happy ninja.

Yes, video games.  I play video games.  Probably not as much as hardcore gamers, but I still play a lot more than a casual gamer.

Controllers

I’m currently randomly cycling through Dragon Age, Ratchet and Clank, Tekken 6, and Mini-ninjas.

I just beat Brutal Legend.  I love that game.  I know a lot of people hated it,  but I guess I’m the target audience for that game  hahha…

I’m also waiting for Yusuke to get tired of Modern Warfare 2 so I can borrow it  hehhe…

Basically, I play almost all types of genres.  Kinda like how I play my guitar in Random Ninjas, all types of genres.

Anyway, I’m going to play video games now.

Hopefully I see some of you at the Glass House show this Friday @ 7:30pm!

My Guitar Energy

November 4, 2009 · Posted in random blog · Comment

Full Metal Ninja - Random Ninjas

My main guitar is a PRS Standard 24 Fret.  It’s been with me for many, many moons.  To be honest though, I’ve never really been that picky with guitars.  As long as I can play on it and crank it to Eleven, I’m good.

This particular guitar is very important to me however, because it was a special surprise gift from my family and friends.  It was a big group effort led by one of the most important people in the world to me.  I was shocked and overwhelmed with happiness when I opened the case it was in.

So whenever I play this guitar on stage, I feel the love, the friendship, the emotions, the hard work, and the energies of everyone who chipped in.  Combine that with the energies from the band, friends, family, fans, random people in the audience, and the internal energy that I somehow conjure up at that moment, I get a giant ball of energy that moves me and empowers me in ways I can’t explain.

Many people ask me how I get into rocking out so much when I’m playing guitar. That’s probably the best way I can explain it.  Granted I probably look funny when I rock out on stage, but I’m not here to look cool or be a rockstar.

I’m here to be in the energy.
