Not trying to be a downer, just trying to figure out how to help
Full Metal Ninja here, I was initially going to bore everyone with how I’ve been extremely busy with working on all of the band’s business administration aspects, marketing strategies meetings, financial workings, networking, etc.. Basically, just the other side of being in a band. It’s not all fun and games kids!
Instead, I just want to bring up Typhoon Ketsana(Ondoy). A few days ago, it basically destroyed Manila, capital of the Philippines. According to CNN, 80 percent of the city was underwater. A month’s worth of rain happened in just half a day killing as much as over 240 people and displacing hundreds of thousands more.
A couple of us in the band have family over there, and we humbly request for your help. I understand there are a lot of disasters going on, but even a little bit helps.

Typhoon Ketsana just slammed into Vietnam. Donate to the relief effort for that too if you can.

I am my older sister’s ninja so for her husband’s birthday, I offered to “get” (my sister doesn’t drive) his present – a bass guitar (yes, he also plays – although not currently for a rock band). It was time for him to get an upgrade so….
Mission:
Procure a Vampyre Red Satin Schecter Custom Stiletto bass guitar at Best Buy, get a nice gig bag to go with it, and stealthily hand it over to sister – so she could surprise him when they eat out.
I knew they’ve got musical instruments there but I wasn’t expecting a mini-Guitar Center/Sam Ash-ish type of showroom. They have a wide selection of guitars, and you can even try them out in their “amp room”. They also offer music classes.
Before this starts sounding like an endorsement, let me just say you guys should check it out… oops, now that sounds like an unpaid endorsement. Haha!

Bloodthirsty Pigs / Cujo the pig
At my very first gig with Random Ninjas, we played at a Vegan festival at a happy farm north of LA. The farm was happy, but not every pig was. One pig in particular seemed to be thirsting for the blood of starving musicians – or thirsting for a taste of their sound equipment. Cujo the pig was skulking in silence until he saw the Mesa Boogie amp being wheeled along his turf….*insert Jaws music*…he eyed the amp suspiciously, until the moment came….to POUNCE!
But Cujo’s aggression was deep seated. As the middle child, he suffered from a severe inferiority complex coupled with obsessive compulsive behavior (jumping in the mud pit 10x a day). They tried behavioral therapy, restricted diets, etc. During this latest episode, Cujo’s doctors were trying different anti-anxiety and anti-depressants to help control his mud obsession, which unfortunately had the side effect of aggressive behavior. Cujo now is trying to control his anger and compulsion with meditation and Pilates.
